The diner was the kind of place that had clearly been overtaken by the hipster craze. You had to drink out of mason jars, and the waitress, when asked if she was having a good day, had looked over her heavy black framed glasses in a way that indicated she didn't need them at all, to give Lucy a look of total boredom. Lucy had meekly ordered a black coffee and hash browns rather than face that face again.

"I'm zero percent cool enough to be in here," she told Mia, eyes skittering from the various cameras around the place as she tugged her baseball cap lower over her eyes. Sure, their new friend would probably be able to erase their images and was probably using the slick tech in here to keep an eye out, but Lucy had spent the last two months avoiding cameras. It was second nature now.

"I mean, how am I supposed to touch this?" she asked, pointing towards the steaming cup of coffee, which was in a glass jar with nothing to protect her hands. She would end up burning herself, and badly, if she tried to pick it up. Meanwhile the hash browns had been made in a waffle iron, and she'd been provided with chopsticks. It was the least accessible way of providing food Lucy had ever seen.

Foursquare ranked the diner at a sound 8. Comments said it was slightly overpriced for a diner but the ambience was really welcoming and pretty out of the box. Most suggested the apple pie with ice-cream and, strangely, the yerba mate.

Nicky didn't really care that much. What she did care for was the diner's strange combination of top-notch tech and easily hackable security system. Apparently someone had wanted to go for the best of the best without really knowing what to do with it. A rookie's mistake, but a mistake nonetheless.

Securely logged into their video feeds, alarms and automatic locks Nicky sat calmly on a deserted bus stop some distance down the road. It was still warm in this time of Autumn and she enjoyed the touch of the sun on her face. She had used to spend a lot of time outside as a kid, running around with Nadine, mostly falling face first and skinning her knees. But these days the open didn't feel half as welcoming. There were threats everywhere, never enough safeguards to cover her back, always the possibility--

Nicky pursed her lips, holding herself back. She was taking a chance here and that was making her antsy, but she had to stay calm. She had accounted for everything-- for as much as she could. She had full access to a complex security system, a wig to change her hair color, two savvy Agents to act on their feet should they need to improvise an escape... They would be fine.

With a deep breath, Nicky wrapped her finger around her cane and pushed herself up. The two women had just stepped inside the diner, it was time. Crossing the road would have been a challenge if a traffic camera hadn't been conveniently placed only a few feet way from where she stood. As it where it only took her a couple minutes to reach her co-conspirators.

"I think they're supposed to give you cup holders for those," she commented helpfully, tapping her cane around the spot she supposed the table was located.

Sometimes what she could make of the video feed didn't translate as literally to clear mental images of the space around her. Finally, the cane hit a wooden leg and then another. Nicky tried one last time before feeling certain enough to ease down and... safely sit a the comfortable cushion.

The tea selection was excellent. Mia spent a good minute browsing through it, a pout forming on her lips at the thought of only getting to try one, before deciding on the fujian jasmine pearl tea with a dash of lemon and honey in it. Additionally she ordered a couple of vegan lavander cookies and vowed to come back to the diner in the future if the drinks and food proved to be worth it.

Happy to ignore Lucy's struggles with her self-esteem, Mia instead scanned the diner at a leisured pace, safe behind sunglasses and under a black bob that brushed the top of her shoulders each time she tilted her head. There was nothing much of note going on, which, bizzarely enough, almost made this feel like going out. It was quite sad what her life had come to, if she thought about it for too long, so Mia decided to save herself the trouble and stop before she gave up on New Haven after all to drown herself in champagne and the other, finer, things in life.

It surely would have been nice. Unfortunately for her though, it would be nicer with Nigel.

Lucy speaking -- again -- pulled her back to reality. Mia lifted an eyebrow at her, gaze flicking from her own mason jar to Lucy's. They were one straw short, and someone was approaching their table. Someone blind. Mia tilted her head in the person's direction just as the stranger spoke, her own eyes alight with interest. Could it be...?

"That could be it." Mia waited for the person to sit, taking in the similarities with the blurred face they'd seen on the laptop, and then, her faux leather backpack feeling heavy against her side, asked the question they'd agreed on. "Say, do you know if there's a store called Chimaera around here? It sells antics."

(OC: Sorry this took me a while. It won't happen again!)

Picking up the chopsticks, Lucy tapped them together. She'd never been any good at using them, and certainly didn't think that she was going to work them out now. She wondered if picking up the caked together potatoes with her fingers would earn her the ire of their waitress.

Probably not as much as having someone join their table late though. Lucy had been aware of the woman coming into the diner -- she was aware of everyone in the diner -- and had come to the unsettling realization that she knew this person. Her instinct to run had popped up, but in the time it took her to categorize why she knew this woman, the blind woman had approached them.

There was a possibility that the woman had left Section M to join the agency after Lucy's travels in the shadows. It wasn't completely implausible, but she doubted it was true. Not after Lucy had watched her for so long. Admittedly, she'd watched everyone for a log time. She glanced at Mia, raising her eyebrows. Mia probably wouldn't be able to read that as an expression that told her that Lucy had more information about their friend than their friend would like, but she could always hope.

She sank lower in her seat, sliding her foot under the table so that if necessary, Mia could grab it before Lucy jumped away. It made her hunch awkwardly, but better to be safe than sorry. If Vicky wasn't their guest, then they were going to be in so much trouble.

The facial recognition software she used had never been enough to tell people's expressions, but Nicky didn't need them to figure out what the two women were feeling. There was always that split second of silence when she walked into a room and people adjusted, trying to remember what they were supposed and not supposed to do around a blind person. She ignored it.

"I do, it's just around the corner. A real Haven for antics enthusiasts, as I hear," she provided instead.

Setting down her cane beside her, Nicky didn't bother folding it, she never did. It was impossible to tell when she might need to make a hasty exit and -even with almost unlimited access to security feeds- the cane had its uses. She didn't bother picking up the menu either, she had pre-selected a few options from the online menu, in case the waitress appeared before she was done. It was most likely going to be a brief meeting.

Calmly folding her hands on the table, Nicky gazed straight ahead, most likely staring somewhere between both women.

"Did you bring it?" She asked, dropping all pretense.

She registered no unknown devices in the area. They were safe. For now.

Mia gave away very little in response, which annoyed Lucy, but was thoroughly predictable. She didn't like being trapped between the wall and Vicky, but she supposed there wasn't a lot that she could do about it either. Smothering her irritation by pulling several napkins from the dispenser beside her, Lucy reached out and picked up her mason jar of coffee.

She didn't like talking to both Vicky and Mia, it was very clear that she was the stupidest person in the room when that happened. Under normal circumstances, she wouldn't care, but with Mia relying on her these days, it made her feel... weird.

"Yes," Lucy said. If Vicky wasn't going to beat around the bush, neither would she. "How long will it take to get it working?" A few minutes, an hour or two? Lucy was fully expecting to be able to get into New Haven in a couple of days now that their hacker was here.

She added Aleks to the list of people she needed to check in on when she got into the city. Getting in touch with her had to be useful.

Nicky's eyes remained fixed calmly ahead and only her hands tensed in elation as she fought the strong urge to lunge for it and scurry back into her burrow. If she ran with it she would be breaking their deal, not only that... it would be quite useless. She truly did need the former agents to break into the city, and no amount of -certainly justified- paranoia would change that.

"A couple weeks," she replied with steady confidence. The reports she had read gave her a reasonable idea of what to expect. "I will need to examine it to determine a more exact date."

Instead of demanding them to hand over the device, she turned to her backpack instead. With sure movements she followed the thread until she found the zipper and pulled. From inside she procured a thin manila envelope.

"A gesture of good-will," she explained as she slid it forward over the table. "I suggest you burn it once you're done." None of the information inside it could be traced back to Nicky herself, but she guessed they'd rather prevent the Elliot siblings' location reaching unwanted hands.

Mia sipped her tea, patiently observing the other two women. Part of her wanted to ask Lucy if their little hacker was, as Mia had expected, a former agent like them, but she knew doing so non-verbally in this situation would only lead to misunderstandings. Either way, it was clear that Lucy knew her in some way and wasn't too freaked out about it, which Mia took as a sign that it was safe to continue.

Hiding a tiny smile behind her cup, Mia regarded the blind woman with interest, not bothering with subtlety. She wondered if their little hacker ever used her blindness to her advantage, drawing people in with acts of vulnerability or awkwardness. Perhaps. Mia certainly would have done it. It was a smart play.

At the redhead's answer, Mia glanced at Lucy only briefly, shifting her hand beneath the table to bump against Lucy's thigh. A couple of weeks was an unfortunate amount of time, but it would be doable. Mia didn't want to listen to Lucy complain right now. She could do that later, when they were alone.

Mildly curious to see what the envelope held, Mia took it and opened it with patient fingers. Then she pulled out the piece of paper only as far as she needed it to read it and raised her eyebrows at the written location. If this was true, then this was a better deal than Mia had hoped to make today. She wanted the device out of their hands anyway, and this would give them something to do in the meantime.

Silently offering Lucy the letter so she could see for herself, Mia gently set the tiny leather backpack under the table and shifted it to their hacker's side with a gentle nudge of her boot.

"Under the table, to your left," Mia said simply. She couldn't be certain the cameras had caught the movement. "You can keep the bag." She'd miss the hipster little thing, but no one would expect to find a device inside it, which was kind of the point.

Weeks?! Lucy opened her mouth to protest, but Mia stopped her from saying anything. Crossing her arms over her chest, she sunk lower in her seat, glowering at the hacker. It wasn't like she could see anythings. Well, maybe something about cameras, but that was fine, she didn't want to be waiting around any more, she wanted to stop running and start doing things.

The envelop changed things. Lucy picked it up, grumpily, and looked inside. Then she sat up straight, looking at the sheet of paper hungrily. This was... this was way more than she had expected. This was better than the device. Well, no, it wasn't, and Lucy knew that, but it was like getting a glass of water in the desert.

She didn't look up as Mia gave instructions, instead she stared at the coordinates. Her family was there. Well, some of her family. She lightly touched the paper, like it might bring her closer faster, but then she tucked the paper back into the folder and looked from Mia to Vicky.

"How will we know when you're done?"

With a subtle gesture, Nicky pretended to adjust her grip on her cane while moving it under the table. It bumped against something soft and long -legs most like-, then against something that made a soft clank -table legs- before hitting something soft again that quickly gave way to her prodding. Good, it should fit inside her own backpack.

"Check the website periodically," she replied. "I'll use the same code as before." She had considered giving them a tracking device, but the risk was too great. "And write there if you need to contact me."

Leaning under the table Nicky reached out for the bag and begun preparations to leave. She had heard the rustle of paper as they examined her gift. A careless move -the envelope was dangerous and should only be opened in secure locations- but no objections had been raised. She had to assume all was in order. There was no reason to continue delaying.

She had been here four minutes, ten seconds, thirty-seven milliseconds in here and they were exactly four minutes, ten seconds, thirty-seven milliseconds too long. How they managed prancing about out in the open like that, Nicky didn't know and she didn't want to find out.

And that was it. Lucy watched as Vicky left, a curious feeling creeping over her. The folder in her hand felt heavy, her focus intent on it, but her mind also wondering what it would all mean. She didn't have time to focus on that though. Maybe it was just nerves. She could worry about it later.

For now... she looked down at her hash browns. It hadn't been long enough for her coffee to cool, so she went back to poking the waffle ironed potatoes with her chopsticks.

"Well," she said thoughtfully. "I guess we know where we're going next." To the coast, where her mother and uncle were. To find her family again. She smiled at her plate, feeling better than she had in a while.

"I suppose we'll have to finish this up," she add with a sigh, looking at her confusing food. "You sure you don't wanna dine and dash?"
