The room was white, blank. Her Ghost followed her, frowning at what she was doing. No one will listen.

Deliah didn't believe him.

She also didn't know how this was going to work, but there had to be a way. They were all connected, and things could be seen. Things could be hidden too, her white room, a world buried in snow, was evidence of that. She focused on who she wanted to talk to, hoping that she hadn't been put in the Vault as well.

In the middle of a training session, a window popped open on Aleks's screen.

'Training sessions' were a joke. There were very few people in the Agency who were on her level, so training revolved more about conditioning her for the kind of work she'd be doing. Searching for information leaks, stopping rumors about New Haven from oozing into the general public. Painfully easy stuff, but it was the only stuff they trusted her with.

They already had what Aleks cared about. The incentives weren't inviting enough for her to strive for rule-abiding like other people around her did. Her roommate had a kid he wanted to see. Aleks had a brother presumably kept somewhere for safe keeping.

So Aleks tested her limits, attempted to push the envelope for what she could find out without raising too many flags while with less than half her mind, completed her assignments. Sometimes she could get away with a little bit, other times, well, she faced the consequences.

She turned milliseconds before the screen popped up, assessing its origin. It was... fascinating. Somewhere distance, computerized, monitor-able. It was... from a place she could roughly trace, but nothing that was familiar.

›› Whom my I say is calling?

M maybe? No... Aleks could get a sense of the code, but it wasn't anything she associated with the other hacker. It was like... The Matrix or something?

That's kind of what it seemed like. Code was easy, a thing Aleks could read the same way she could read a book, but this was a complex translation, numbers that built into something... not tangible, but like the illusion of tangible?

It faded into the white. Red against the white, blood on the snow. Deliah stared at it for a long time, the chipper tone turned less happy given how it had been put there.

This is the price, Damien said, letting the knife hang in his hand.

"I accepted that," Deliah said, pressing a hand to the wound in her side. Blood seeped between her fingertips on to the ground, even as she used her other hand to scratch out her message.

Aleks stared at the screen, not sure what to make of it. Of course, the words made sense, it was the how that challenged her. DF ∞ TF x Deliah Floss. Tim Floss. Deliah and Tim Floss in the same camera feed as her brother.

    It made sense, but
how. Aleks always suspected the Vault was part of a network, something that had to be accessible, but she never, ever considered the possibility that a message could come from inside the Vault. She always thought she'd have to figure it the other way around. She looked over her shoulder, as if an Agent would pick up that quickly on something amiss.

    ›› Copy that
    ›› Searching...

She could do that, probably, but that information was beyond her tested limitations. The question was how much of that list she could get in the timeframe she'd have.

Act natural. In order to act natural, she couldn't use her undivided attention. Simultaneously, she ran her normal searches. Keyword: New Haven. Keyword: Mutant. Keyword: Kinesis. It buzzed in the back of her mind, flicking up results while more of her attention went down a rabbit hole she never dared to fall so far down before. Keyword: Containment. Keyword: SV3. Keyword: Security Clearance.

With the head of Surveillance here in the classroom today, the lead agent was feeling jumpy. Harrison kept glancing towards his boss and feeling a little bit like the walls were closing in on him. Then he would look back at the monitor of what all the techies were doing.

The pop up screen appeared without his notice. It was only after Tyler began to type furiously, obscuring past messages that Harrison realized what was going on.

"What the..." he muttered under his breath, and then his eyes widened. She was in secure files. Immediately he switched off her internet connection, pressing down on her power with his own.

"Tyler!" He stood, moving over to where she was working, ready to stop any and all digging into secure files.

Nononono. Her connection was fading fast, but Aleks tried to push past it for as long as she could. Data was sent, but how was she supposed to know if it was received?

    ›› ∞ that's all i can get
    ›› help him. help them

Did that go through? She couldn't tell. Her head felt empty. It was an awful, lonely feeling. Where was the rest of the world? How did everyone else handle hearing themselves think so loudly?

And she spun in her chair, facing the Agent coming toward her. Shield shield shield shield That would be good, if it still worked. Putting up a barrier between her and the Agency would only put off the consequences for a little. They were unavoidable, but Aleks knew that going into the deep, dark secure files.

"You called?" she said innocently. Fizzling, the shield materialized in a wave, a transparent, blue tinged thing. From the right angle, it might've been invisible, if you didn't move. It nudged at the furniture at it's perimeter.

Harrison was a good agent, but under surveillance his performance suffered considerably. He was simply paying too much attention to the wrong person. Kathryn pointedly ignored his glances in her direction and instead spent several minutes with each individual in the group, assessing their progress or lack thereof. Fortunately, most of the corps had settled in well enough, doing their job accordingly (at least when a superior was around). Unfortunately, though, there were always exceptions.

Aleksandra Tyler was one of them, but when Harrison's sharp voice rang through the air, Kathryn found herself almost disappointed. The girl was going to achieve little if her recklessness continued to outweigh her intelligence -- today was a terrible day for shenanigans. Stepping away from the screen, Kathryn gestured for Faulkner to stay put, even as his warning about the force shield rang through her head, and moved over to Harrison with Morgan in tow.

"Ms Tyler. Lower your shield immediately, or Agent Morgan will do it for you." Kathryn's sharp words made Harrison halt in mid-step, just barely keeping him out of range from the shield. He jumped back a second later, clearly only just becoming aware of the barrier. By the time Kathryn and Morgan reached his side, he had gathered his wits enough to turn his attention to his tablet, quickly gaining access to Aleks' screen and recovering bits and pieces of her data transfer.

Kathryn held out her hand expectantly for the tablet, waiting, though her gaze never moved away from Aleks. "Explain yourself," she prompted. Beside her, Agent Morgan stood, ready to negate Aleks' powers at the next sign of disobedience.

Aleks made a face. Ms. Tyler. It was both too formal and too familiar. Don't you mean AX6695? There were a lot of things the Agency could call her. Nuisance was probably one. Too smart for her own good might be another.

"Reflex..." she muttered, pursing her lips so she didn't smirk at the supervising Agent so close to walking into it. Her eyes flicked to Morgan, who would probably love to take all her power away. Negators were the Agency's favorites. They wanted an even playing field, except when fighting China or ISIS or whichever enemies the Agency decided needed to be taken down a notch.

A hole formed in the middle of the shield, the blueish edge much clearer as it disassembled, the hole growing outward until there was nothing left of it.

She took a deep breath. "I received a request from what I assume was a secure server requesting information. I figured if whoever it was could contact me, they had clearance," Aleks said. She was either going to talk her way out of it, or they were really going to come down on her for lying about it.

If she had difficulty determining the exact source, maybe they would, too. Maybe, if they actually managed to track the source, it would be too late for them to do anything. Crossed fingers. Anyone asking her for that information would have to know there was risk involved. All Aleks knew for sure was it was a risk she was willing to deal with. On the other end, she could only assume.

"I mean, who else would be able to contact me?" Aleks said. Thus far, she hadn't received any communication from outside the city. Unless they were granted access to technology like Aleks was here, nobody in the city really had the opportunity to contact her.

She held eye contact with Agent Dupont. Getting caught didn't scare her anymore. Being stared down wasn't quite so intimidating when Aleks was already pretty sure she'd lose, but she'd try to do that with as much dignity as she could manage.
